Heavy Engineering helping to preserve Hull's heritage

Whilst walking the dogs this morning I saw there was a heavy duty crane waiting to lift one of the victorian bridges that lie either side of the lock which enters Hull's marina.
The bridges are currently undergoing a restoration programme which once finished will allow pedestrians, cycles and possibly cars to traverse the lock once again.
After going home to retrieve my camera I arrived back a few minutes too late and did not catch the bridge being lifted out of position, I did however catch the bridge being placed onto the back of a heavy load bearing truck.
Speaking to one of the workmen he told me there were parts of the bridge date stamped from 1856.
The bridgw will now be taken to Sheffeild where the integrity of the metal will be assesed to see weather it needs replacing.
