Sunday Morning Walk

I have not taken any photo's in ages, so this morning I decided to take the dog for an alternative walk with a little detour through Hull's older part of the city center, and bring my camera along for thrills and spills! Nothing much caught my eye, but I took these shots and I fiddled with them in Photoshop, and I think they look OK! Enlarge them for a better view!

I spent yesterday working until 1 o'clock then I went home and got ready for the football match. The football match was pretty dull itself, but I didn't get to see most of it anyway, because a large contingent of the Millwall supporters were only at the game for trouble and trouble they caused! I spent most of the game looking to my right, keeping an eye out for flying objects (I sit very close to the away supporters) as they ripped out over 50 seats and the metal brackets which the seats are bolted onto, and launched them into our supporters and at the police officers who had been called in to stop them charging into our crowd. Having said that, it was a good day at the office for me personally as I didn't actually get hit by any of the seats, brackets and coins they were throwing at us, but had a £1 coin and a 50 pence piece land at my feet, and as the game was quite dull they did at least provide me with entertainment as they battled with the police, who were in full riot gear with batons at the ready!

I have also treated myself recently to some DVD's of programme's I used to watch when I was young. I already have Transformers and Thundercats on DVD but I have also just added Voltron: Defender of the Universe and Terrahawks (Zelda and her clan used to scare me as a 5 year old kid!) I am also waiting for a decent DVD release of Fraggle Rock.

Whatabout battle of the planets?? YOu mustremember that! Fraggle rock is on kids TV @ about 4:30 in the morning on sky. I watched some with Kaitlyn the other day b4 work. Quality.

Nice pics. I think the bottom one would be more interesting if you did all the picture in B&W except for the 2 stop signs!!

I like gloomy, wet pics -- especially the second one. Very nice!

RD, of course Fraggle Rock is a quality show, and also one that examined the systems of symbiotic relationships between different "races" of creatures, an allegory to the human world, where each group was somewhat unaware of how interconnected and important they were to one another. Creating this allegorical world allowed the program to entertain and amuse while seriously exploring complex issues of prejudice, spirituality, personal identity, environment, and social conflict. Fraggle Rock generally refused to over-simplify any individual issue, instead simply illustrating the consequences and inherent difficulties of different actions and relationships. Interesting and fun!

These shots almost look HDR, I'm guessing you are doing greyscale and then using the brush that removes the effect to selectively paint the colour back in...regardless, looking good!!

Love the pics. Wish I lived in a picturesque place. Instead I live in boring suburbia surrounded by petty people who are obsessed with their lawns and refer to me as “that strange woman who walks her cat”.

And you obviously got a lot more out of Fraggle Rock than I did. lol

Fink: your just about right! With the pictures open in photoshop, I just went to; layer--new adjustment layer--hue saturation, and reduced the saturation to minus 100%, then brushed the colour back in where I wanted it, I also created a new adjustment layer for the brightness contrast and adjusted that in certain areas, and also the same for the colour balance! It's called 'colour popping' and is commonly used in wedding photography!

TardisGirl; Hull isn't particularly picturesque, we do have an old part of town which can look ok, depending on which way your facing, and btw it was also voted the worst place to live in England a few years ago!

I like the photos - made me feel like I'm there a little bit.

Your football games are a riot! People throwing money?! I'd come with a piggy bank (and a helmet) and try to collect all the coins :)
